Man did I get drunk last Monday at the Canal Room! hahahaha
Seriously though. Last week we had a last minute show at Canal Room with my good friend Pat McGee.
Good times. I had the chance to get up and sing with Pat on a couple of his tunes, and even had a shaker solo. Yeah, I know. I am pretty badass.
I also did a pretty interesting cover of Usher “U Got it Bad.” That’s right. U. I had learned the words and melody a while back when I randomly ended up in a karaoke bar. I played it like 30 times that day in my living room where I thought it was sounding pretty sick. So last night I gave it a whirl and I thought it came out pretty damn good. I actually can’t wait to do it again. I think I am going to give it a litte bit of a G$ Rock Makeover and pull it out with the whole band on our Shiprocked boat cruise June 7th. I’ll be coming up with a list of other cover songs to bust out on the boat, and YOU will help me choose which ones we will be doing at the show.
any suggestions?
So now that I’m living in the East Village in NYC, I’ve been discovering tons of great restaurants and I love to send people to the ones I love.
Last month it was a Thai place Klong.
This month, I strongly urge you to treat yourself to a flawless brunch at Cafe Centosette. It is on 2nd Ave at 11th St. (maybe 10th) (next to Urban Outfitters)
Do yourself a favor and get the 3 cheese omelette, any kind of pancakes, or the individual thin crust pizzas.
Oh my…. I love it.
Get this.
Lately I’ve been sitting in my car on the side of the road in NYC writing new songs. That’s right, in my car, parked on the nyc streets!
You see, I still have a car with me in the city, and have to follow the alternate side rules of parking. So that means at least twice a week I must sit in my car double parked from about 9 - 10:30am to eventually be able to land a hot spot.
Living in NJ for as long as I did, I would commute over 45 min to NYC and back just about 4-5 times a week. It may be hard for some of you to understand, but that was some valuable alone writing time. So now I am finding my own way to make due.
So if you are anywhere near 2nd Ave and 13th St. on a Mon, Tue, Thurs, or Fri, feel free to knock on the window of my Jeep and ask to hear some new songs. ; P
Or if you see me in a parked car singing and playing guitar don’t think I’m crazy or anything.
